In the federal civil suit of CP, et al., v. M/V Altair, Guy L. Womack & Associates, P.C. and co-counsel were retained by the family of a Longshoreman killed in a crane accident.

Learning that the ship was hurriedly off-loading to escape into open sea in attempt to avoid liability for the accident, we obtained an arrest and seizure warrant from a federal judge instructing the U.S. Marshal to arrest and seize the M/V Altair.

The ship's owner was required to post a $3 million bond in order to secure the ship's release. After trial, our clients were awarded $3,555,455.60.

Final judgment is pending an appeal by the ship owners in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana.
